damn those dudes can party?

Iightmachine January 24, 2012 at 7:38 pm

@valglass12 The club was patterned on the Mine Shaft. There was a white sign on the black door? of the mine Shaft that strictly dictated would could or could not be worn in the club, and they were very inflexible. They didn’t even allow latex back then. Can you imagine?

@7beers There was a gay man shot outside the RamRod a few months after the movie came out, and one of the things the man who did the shooting said is that he had seen Cruising. A number of activists jumped on it and said? “see”? It later turned out that he hadn’t actually seen it – his lawyer just told him to say that.

Iightmachine January 24, 2012 at 8:58 pm

@rickw1100 It’s actually a realistic portrayal of the gay scene, circa ’79. The protests occurred at a time when gays were still apologizing for being gay – trying to convince people of how “normal” we were, and the idea that the masses were going to become aware of leather, drag queens and fistfucking freaked them out. They were still standing? in front of mirrors, practicing how they would say “Mom, I’m gay”. How could they ever explain Cruising? Hence, the protests…

@rickw1100 How did many homosexuals die from this? movie?

rickw1100 January 24, 2012 at 10:50 pm

This “film” is everything that gay activists said it was-a disgusting smear campaign to demonize the Gay community- See the documentary: ‘The Celluliod Closet”- This film was responsible for the death of many? a Gay person.- Al Pacino omits it from his filmography- Director William Friedkin is a very sick individual with his own Gay issues-. This is violent, sick, porno flick at best. Shame on those who made it. Disgusting. SHAME AND SHAME AGAIN.

i think pacino was bisexual and meeting the young man upstairs from him made him realise that he had gay feelings towards other men so thats why he killed him in the end. im from ireland i wish i had of been around the new york or? san fransisco gay scene back in the 70s

I like this film. The pre-AIDS gay scene was funner here in my city too. And what I most like is the fact that music is good rock&roll (Willy Deville, John Hiatt…) instead of the hackneyed music for queens in that era (Gloria Gaynor, etc). However the film? has some loose ends. Why does the killer look different from the one who’s eventually caught? They’re not the same man! Regarding Al Pacino, seems that he finds himself there, but, is he the real killer? does he kill the neighbouring boy?

Arcane1Soldier January 25, 2012 at 3:02 am

So wait a minute, i still dont get it. in the end of this film,? the killer was Al Pacino? Or was it just shown that way cause he basically was in to deep. or something.

valglass12 January 25, 2012 at 3:57 am

I wonder how those macho gays in the basement club would react to a? “Bruno” type of gay at their place. Wonder what their reaction would be? Two fists or one? LOL

TheRunicSymbols January 25, 2012 at 4:36 am

Fantastically different movie back in the day when it came out!

Pacino was great in this (as he usually is!).

Mad/great film and great music too!

Come up here… I wanna show you? my nightstick! CRAZY!

Sleepensheep January 25, 2012 at 4:43 am

Let me get this straight, no pun intended, I’m? supposed to think gays aren’t insane? You’d have to be crazy to do that perverted crap.

sayhey74 January 25, 2012 at 5:20 am
